How do we handle your civil case?
We start with a free first consultation by phone or WhatsApp on +968 9706 3030. We listen to the facts, then ask for the core documents: the contract, correspondence, and any evidence of loss or debt. After reviewing the file, we give you a clear opinion on the strength of your claim before you pay any fees.
Not every dispute needs a courtroom. Where a settlement is realistic, we draft a formal demand or negotiate on your behalf. If that fails, we draft the statement of claim and file it before the competent Primary Court under the Civil and Commercial Procedures Law, Royal Decree 29/2002.
We follow the case hearing by hearing, prepare memoranda, respond to expert reports, and argue appeals before the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court where needed. Our work does not stop at judgment. We handle execution proceedings until you actually receive what the court awarded.
When can you claim compensation in Oman?
The rule in Oman is direct: whoever causes harm to another must compensate the injured party. Article 176 of the Civil Transactions Law, Royal Decree 29/2013, covers harm to a person or to property, whether it arises from breach of a contract or from an independent wrongful act.
To succeed, a claim must prove three elements: fault, damage, and the causal link between them. We build that proof from documents, witnesses, and court-appointed expert reports, and we claim both the actual loss and, where the law allows, the profit you were deprived of.
What about lease disputes and eviction?
Before any step, we review the tenancy contract and identify the legal ground for termination or eviction: unpaid rent, use of the premises for a purpose other than agreed, or expiry of the term. We then serve the required notices in a form that will stand up before the courts.
We act for landlords and tenants alike before the bodies competent to hear rental disputes in Oman, from recovering overdue rent and pursuing eviction claims to reclaiming deposits and compensation for damage to the premises, through to judgment and enforcement.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a civil case take in Oman?
It depends on the complexity of the dispute and whether the court appoints an expert. A civil case is heard first before the Primary Court over several hearings, and may then go to the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. Straightforward claims can be resolved in months, while complex or expert-heavy disputes take longer. SIA gives you a realistic estimate after reviewing your file in the free first consultation.
Can I claim compensation without a written contract?
Often, yes. Civil liability under Oman's Civil Transactions Law, Royal Decree 29/2013, does not require a contract: whoever causes harm to another must compensate them. Unwritten agreements can also be proved by other means, such as correspondence, bank transfers, and witnesses, depending on the nature of the obligation. We assess your available evidence before filing so you know where you stand.
How do I evict a tenant who does not pay rent?
Start by serving the tenant a formal demand for payment and documenting the arrears. If the tenant still does not pay, an eviction and rent-recovery claim is filed before the body competent for rental disputes in Oman. We draft the notice, file the claim, and follow it through to execution. Your tenancy contract and proof of arrears are the two documents that decide the strength of your case.
How much does a civil litigation lawyer cost in Muscat?
Fees depend on the type of claim, its value, and how many court stages it needs, so there is no single figure. SIA starts with a free first consultation by phone or WhatsApp on +968 9706 3030, assesses your file, then agrees clear written fees with you before any step is taken. You know the cost before you commit.
Which court hears civil cases in Oman?
Civil claims in Oman start before the Primary Courts, which sit in circuits according to the type and value of the dispute under the Civil and Commercial Procedures Law, Royal Decree 29/2002. Judgments can be appealed to the Court of Appeal, and then to the Supreme Court in the cases the law permits. We identify the correct court for your claim before filing.
